ATHLETES RECEIVE ALL-AMERICAN HONORS All-American Accolades Stinson also collects LOS ANGELES, CA - Cal State L.A. guard Quincy Stinson (Altadena/Muir HS) was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Oldsmobile Third Team All-American list. Additionally, he has been chosen to the Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American list. Stinson, a 6-0 junior, becomes the first Golden Eagle in men's basketball to receive All-American recognition since the 1984-season, when Sam Veal earned the honors. Stinson is one of only five juniors in the nation to achieve one of the highest standards in collegiate sports. He ended his 1999-2000 campaign as the University's all-time steals leader with 181, and is currently 8th all-time in career assists (212) and 9th all-time in scoring with 1,109 points. Stinson was among the CCAA's Top 10 in offensive categories: 2nd in steals (2.46 spg), 7th in scoring (15.1 ppg), 9th in field goal percentage (.433, 122-282), 10th in free throw percentage (.739, 82-111) and 10th in assists (2.71 apg). He was also twice chosen as the league's Player of the Week honoree.
at Track & Field Championships LOS ANGELES, CA - Cal State L.A. sophomore Taras Rohde (Fallbrook/Fallbrook HS) earned All-American honors in the shot put at the 2000 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina. Rohde's toss of 56-0 placed him 7th in the country. Two weeks prior to the national meet, he recorded a personal-best 56-10.75 in the shot to win the CCAA championship title. His personal-best mark is the fifth-best effort in University history. A 1999 USA Junior National competitor, he is a bright student-athlete with a 3.0 GPA in business administration and a minor in computer science.
