Cal State L.A. and Boeing team up
for Engineering and Technology Fair
What:
An Engineering and Technical Awareness Career Fair at California State University, Los Angeles on Thursday, October 7, will expose local area middle school, high school, and college students to opportunities for exciting work in engineering and technical careers. The program co-sponsored by the Cal State L.A.Âs College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology and The Boeing Company will reinforce the appreciation of the wonders of math and science through interactive activities, roundtable discussions with Boeing engineers, and a glider competition.
The ultimate goal is to help reverse the alarming shortage in the number of engineers, scientists, and other skilled technicians in todayÂs workforce.
Who:
Hundreds of students from the following schools below will participate in the program:
* Fedde Middle School  ABC Unified School District
* Jordan High School  Long Beach Unified School District
* Gage and Nightingale Middle Schools, Huntington Park High School, CSULA Â
Los Angeles Unified School District
* Gabrielino High School  San Gabriel Unified School District
When:
TOMORROWÂThursday, October 7, 2004, 12 noon  4:45 p.m.
Where: Cal State L.A. Golden Eagle Ballroom. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Fwy., at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Fwys. Public (dispenser) parking is available in Lots C, F and G or upper level of Parking Structure II.
Schedule: 12 noon - Registration, check-in, career fair and fueling simulator 1:00 p.m. - Lunch 1:30 p.m. - Welcome and introductions 2:00 p.m. - Dr. Henry R. Grooms, senior manager, Strength, Structural Analysis and Design, Boeing Huntington Beach Site-Host Engineering Organization: ÂEngineering as a career 3:00 p.m. - Boeing executives roundtable discussions with students 3:45 p.m. - Students Glider Competition at Greenlee Plaza 4:45 p.m. - Awards ceremony for Glider Competition
