LOS ANGELES Â The inaugural performance at the Luckman Intimate Theatre will be Culture Clash In AmeriCCa, bringing the acclaimed Chicano-Latino comedy back to Los Angeles as part of their 20th anniversary tour. In AmeriCCa will run for four performances, November 18-21. Curtain for Thursday, November 18, Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20, is 8:00 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, November 21, at 3:00 p.m.
Since its inception in San Francisco in 1984, Culture Clash has garnered national acclaim, earning a well-deserved reputation for raucous and hilarious sketch comedy which serves as topical social satire. The three artists who make up Culture ClashÂRichard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Herbert SiguenzaÂbring to life a rich palette of remarkable characters who represent and question numerous issues relevant to todayÂs multi-ethnic, multi-faceted society. Storytelling through satire is what Culture Clash does best, healing with laughter while asking hard questions to challenge their audience.
In AmeriCCa is the culmination of 20 years of Culture Clash, bringing together earlier works as well as incorporating newer community-based segments to create a lively narrative of the modern American experience.
The Intimate Theatre is the final piece of the Harriet & Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex, which also includes the 1,152-seat Luckman Theatre and the Luckman Gallery. The flexible black-box Intimate Theatre accommodates up to 250, depending on configuration, bringing added dimension to the LuckmanÂs performance season, while creating exciting possibilities for new project development by the arts community. 2004-05 Luckman events and exhibitions is available by calling (323) 343-6600, or online at www.luckmanfineartscomplex.org.
