Cal State L.A. Presents the
Cup of Culture Reading Series

What & Who:
The University-Student Union Cross Cultural Programs Office at California State University, Los Angeles introduces the Cup of Culture Reading Series. All lectures will be held Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and are free to the public.

Jan. 19 - Michelle Serros.
Los Angeles-based writer Michelle Serros will read from her work. She is the author of Chicana Falsa and How to Be a Chicano Role Model.

Jan. 26 - The Asian American Writers Workshop.
Asian American women and men from the Asian American Writers Workshop will come together to read wonderful new works of poetry and prose. The group is led by Ellen Kraut-Hasegawa, a regular contributor to the LA Weekly.

Feb. 2 - Incommunicado.
This spoken word and performative reading will feature writers from the San Diego-based Incommunicado Press.

Feb. 9 - Michael Datcher and Jenoyne Adams.
This reading features a husband and wife writing team, Michael Datcher and Jenoyne Adams. Datcher has written about politics, race, and music for such magazines and newspapers as VIBE, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, and Buzz, and is the co-editor of Tough Love: Cultural Criticism and Familial Observations on the Life and Death of Tupac Shakur. Jenoyne Adams' writing has been published extensively in newspapers and such anthologies as Catch the Fire: A Cross-Generational Anthology of African American Literature. She is currently completing her first novel, Resurrecting Mingis.

Feb. 16 - José Cruz Gonzalez.
José Cruz Gonzalez, playwright and professor of Theatre Arts and Dance at Cal State L.A., will read from his work.

Feb. 23 - An Open Reading of Poetry and Prose.
Bring your own poetry and prose at this open reading featuring writers from campus and the community. Everyone is invited to read their own work or check out the words of others. There will be a time limit of seven minutes per person.

Mar. 2 - Women at Work.
Women at Work, part of Writers at Work, is an impressive and diverse group of talented LA-based women who will read exciting new works of fiction and poetry. The group is led by the award-winning writer Terry Wolverton, author of Bailey's Beads.

Cal State L.A. University-Student Union, Café LA. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Fwy., at the interchange of 10 and 710 Fwys.
