Four Emmy nominations for CSULA’s TVFM department

Professor McKeever, alumni Cuba and Gomez set sights on statuette

Los Angeles, CA –- Roll out the red carpet for the Department of Television, Film and Media Studies (TVFM) at Cal State L.A.!

CSULA faculty member Jane McKeever and two alumni—Carmen Cuba and Julian Gomez—of the TVFM department are each nominated for this year’s Emmy Awards.

Excitement builds as the campus awaits the 65th Primetime Emmy® Awards on Sunday, Sept. 22. Hosted by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the event will take place at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, and will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

McKeever, who is co-owner of the post-production company, HF2 Productions: Happy Feet Foley, received an Emmy nomination in the category of sound editing for the popular HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” A Los Angeles resident, she is an assistant professor of television and film production at CSULA.

Cuba, who is an independent casting director based in Los Angeles, was nominated for an Emmy in the category of casting for a miniseries, movie or a series for the HBO film, “Behind the Candelabra.”

Gomez, who is an editor and sound editor for World Race Productions, Inc., picked up two Emmy nominations in the categories of picture editing and sounding editing for Episode 7 of CBS’s Season 22 of The Amazing Race, “Be Safe and Don’t Hit a Cow.”

The TVFM department at CSULA offers students an excellent education in media studies. It comprises an undergraduate program leading to a bachelor’s degree in television, film and media studies, with options in telecommunications and film and broadcast journalism. Both M.A. and M.F.A. degree programs are also available.

The Primetime Emmys® Awards celebrate excellence in national primetime programming, awarding top honors at the annual creative arts and primetime awards ceremonies.
