| Cal State L.A. Senior Center LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A. senior center Jurate Orinaite (Marijampole, Lithuania) has been named the Rawlings/California Collegiate Athletic Association WomenÂs Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced this afternoon by the CCAA league office. Orinaite led Cal State L.A. to a home-and-home sweep last week over crosstown-rival Cal State Dominguez Hills. In WednesdayÂs 70-50 home win, she tallied her ninth double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 rebounds in addition to four assists. On Saturday night at CSUDH, Orinaite posted 16 points, nine blocked shots, seven rebounds and four assists in helping the Golden Eagles erase a double-digit deficit in the second half to an eventual 75-74 victory. For the week, she averaged 18.0 points per game on 61 percent shooting from the floor (14-of-23), along with 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocked shots and 4.0 assists per game. Orinaite currently paces the CCAA in both rebounding (10.8 rpg) and blocked shots (3.4 bpg). Nationally, she stands sixth in the NCAA in blocks per game, tied for 10th in rebounds per game and 22nd in field goal percentage (.579). Her nine blocks in SaturdayÂs win at CSUDH ranks as the fourth-best game in the NCAA this season and was just one off her school and conference record of 10 set last year at San Francisco State. The Golden Eagles (8-9, 7-5 CCAA) return home this weekend for the start of four-straight home games as Cal State L.A. hosts Chico State (Fri., Feb. 1) and UC Davis (Sat., Feb. 2) in womenÂs-menÂs doubleheaders. Tipoff times in the Eagles Nest both nights are 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men).
