| LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC TO PERFORM AT THE LUCKMAN The Luckman Fine Arts Complex at California State University, Los Angeles, in association with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, Esa-Pekka Salonen, music director, will present a free Neighborhood Concert on Friday, April 12, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. The concert will be performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the Luckman Theatre, with Yasuo Shinozaki, conductor, and Michele Zukovsky, clarinet. Opening the program will be a collaborative composition--by student composers from Cal State L.A. and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts--to be performed by the Cal State L.A. New Music Ensemble and members of the Pacific Contemporary Music Center Student Chamber Ensemble, both under the direction of Cal State L.A. assistant professor of music John M. Kennedy. Composer Osvaldo Golijov has been working with the students as part of On Location, an artist residency program of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The program will also include: (Use of recording devices and cameras is prohibited during the performance of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.) Neighborhood Concerts are made possible, in part, by a generous grant from Target Corporation with additional funding provided by BankAmerica Foundation and the William Randolph Hearst Foundations. These programs are also supported by the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, and the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department.
