Paintings:
In his paintings, Manuel S. Mendez takes the viewer on a journey into the complexities of the mind, an interior landscape. The layered landscapes not only provide an intellectual journey but an emotional and spiritual one as well. Depth and texture are achieved through the subtle layering of paint, and the juxpositioning of angular and biomorphic shapes creates an illusion of space and depth. Mendez' palette of rich, deep, earth tones creates a quiet, subdued, sometimes somber mood as the interior and exterior landscapes fuse.
