| Cal State L.A. Technology Student The award includes a $1,000 scholarship plus expenses paid to attend the 49th Annual Critical Trends Conference, to be held at Lake Geneva, WI, on May 13-15, 1999. Pinela will be presenting his winning paper, "Digital Printing: The Innovation for Personalized Printing," at the conference. Other Cal State L.A. students who submitted their proposals included George Fernandez, Jorge Garcia, James Salazar, Hiram Gurrola, Jose Rosas and Luis Eras. Their faculty advisor was Benjamin L. Lee, associate professor of Technology and printing management/graphic communications program coordinator. The Research and Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed by the printing industry leaders. The R & E Council's Annual Critical Trends Conference focus is on the technological challenges and significant business trends impacting the printing and publishing marketplace. Cal State L.A.'s Department of Technology offers the only four-year printing management program in Southern California that leads to a B.S. in Printing Management.
